Unbothered in the Blaze

The world around her crackles and burns,
The smoke twists and curls, the dark monster churns.
Flames lick at her feet, embers rise high,
And chaos breathes heavy against the grey sky.
But she just stands there, thumbs up, half a smile,
Like she has been here burning for quite a while.
Not frightened, not fleeing, not falling apart,
Just a girl made of fire with fire in her heart.
The monster looms large with its smoke and its roar,
She has seen it before, oh, she has seen it before.
It growls and it curls and it circles around,
But her feet stay steady, her soul stays ground.
“Go on,” says her eyes, half-tired, half-bold,
“I have walked through worse fires, or so I am told.”
She does not fight the flames, she does not run,
She simply stands still and says, “I am not done.”
For some are not broken by heat or by night,
Some are simply forged quietly, into their own light.
The fire is not punishment, not curse, not despair –
It is just Tuesday to her, and she does not care.

The strongest souls are not the ones who avoid the fire; they are the ones who learn to stand inside it.
